A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO NORTH KOHALA COMMUNITY
RESOURCE CENTER FOR EXPENSES RELATING TO THE RENOVATION OF THE KAPA‘AU VETERANS WALL OF HONOR IN NORTH KOHALA.
WHEREAS, the North Kohala Community Resource Center (NKCRC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to increase the number of successful community projects that benefit
North Kohala through education, training, and bridges to funding, and has currently supported over 75 community projects; and
WHEREAS, the North Kohala National Guard Alumni Club, a group of National Guard alumni and veterans from all military branches, conducts ceremonies to honor all veterans and maintains
the community’s military monuments, including the Kapa‘au Veterans Wall of Honor that commemorates North Kohala veterans; and
WHEREAS, the NKCRC is collaborating with the North Kohala National Guard Alumni Club to renovate the Kapa‘au Veterans Wall of Honor and is requesting funds to improve signage and revitalize
the area for future ceremonies honoring veterans of all branches of the military; and
WHEREAS, this project falls within the Department of Parks and Recreation’s mission to promote, perpetuate, and encourage activities and programs in culture, art, history, and humanities;
and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai‘i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying
the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 9 will be appropriated to the Department of Parks and Recreation to provide
a grant to the North Kohala Community Resource Center for expenses relating to the renovation of the Kapa‘au Veterans Wall of Honor in North Kohala.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai‘i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this resolution.
