i <br /> pJMyYfos,y�� <br /> COUNTY <br /> I ieSTATE OF HAWAIII <br /> +A Ma Not•'\ <br /> tTE•OF•NPJa <br /> SOLUTION NO. 248 Zi <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE HAWAII <br /> COUNTY ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY COUNCIL FOR ITS CITRIC ACID <br /> VOUCHER PROGRAM FOR COQUI FROG PREVENTION AND ERADICATION. <br /> WHEREAS, the Hawaii County Economic Opportunity Council is a 501(e)(3)nonprofit <br /> organization whose mission is to prevent, alleviate, and eliminate poverty in Hawaii County; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, the Hawaii County Economic Opportunity Council provides multiple <br /> forms of access to economic relief and opportunity with the goal of self-sufficiency; and <br /> WHEREAS, coqui frogs have become an invasive species within the last decade and can <br /> carry diseases such as rat lungworm and can also be a noise nuisance to residents; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Hawaii County Economic Opportunity Council is requesting funds to <br /> purchase citric acid for its voucher program to continue assisting residents with coqui frog <br /> prevention and eradication; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Research and Development supports the development of <br /> a local economy that is diverse, stable, and in balance with Hawai`i's ecology, community <br /> character, and cultural heritage; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code; <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 4 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Research and Development to provide a grant to the Hawaii County Economic Opportunity <br /> Council for its citric acid voucher program for coqui frog prevention and eradication. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
