Aloha Council Chair David and Council Members:
It is my pleasure to nominate Lehuanani Ah Nee of District 3 to the Redistricting Commission.
Born and raised in the Hawaiian Homestead Village of Keaukaha, Lehuanani is highly regarded
as an artist and community organizer and is prepared to more actively participate in the decisions
that will directly and indirectly affect the community.
Ms. Ah Nee holds a bachelor's degree in Anthropology from the University of Hawaii at Hilo
and earned her Master of Fine Arts in Photography from the Academy of Art University in San
Francisco. A teacher at Ke Ana La`ahana Public Charter School since 2008, she provides her
students access to photography opportunities in local, state, and national spaces.
I respectfully request that Ms. Ah Nee's nomination be waived through Committee and be placed
on the November 3, 2021, full council agenda, in order to fill the recently vacated seat on the
Commission as quickly as possible. If confirmed, she will serve a term to end upon the filing of
the 2021 Reapportionment Plan.

LEHUANANI AH NEE OF DISTRICT 3 TO THE REDISTRICTING COMMISSION
Pursuant to Section 2(g) of Rule 4 of the Rules of Procedure of the Council of the County of Hawaii,
this written request is submitted with my approval that the above-referenced matter be waived from the
Committee on Governmental Operations, Relations and Economic Development to the full Council for
immediate action. In reviewing this matter,timely approval is crucial. It is therefore advantageous that
approval is granted and the matter be placed onto the next Council agenda for review. However, in the
event this request is denied, for whatever reason, I understand the matter shall be referred to the
Committee on Governmental Operations, Relations and Economic Development for placement on its
future agenda.
