A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE HAWAI‘I COUNTY
ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY COUNCIL FOR ITS CITRIC ACID VOUCHER PROGRAM FOR COQUI FROG PREVENTION AND ERADICATION.
WHEREAS, the Hawai‘i County Economic Opportunity Council is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to prevent, alleviate, and eliminate poverty in Hawai‘i County; and
WHEREAS, the Hawai‘i County Economic Opportunity Council provides multiple forms of access to economic relief and opportunity with the goal of self-sufficiency; and
WHEREAS, coqui frogs have become an invasive species within the last decade and can carry diseases such as rat lungworm and can also be a noise nuisance to residents; and
WHEREAS, the Hawai‘i County Economic Opportunity Council is requesting funds to purchase citric acid for its voucher program to continue assisting residents with coqui frog prevention
and eradication; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Research and Development supports the development of a local economy that is diverse, stable, and in balance with Hawai‘i’s ecology, community character, and
cultural heritage; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai‘i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying
the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 4 will be appropriated to the Department of Research and Development to provide
a grant to the Hawai‘i County Economic Opportunity Council for its citric acid voucher program for coqui frog prevention and eradication.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai‘i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:
