CALL TO The regular meeting of the Committee on Parks and Recreation and Public
ORDER: Safety was called to order at 9:01 a.m., in the Council Chambers, Hilo, by
Mr. Holeka Goro Inaba, Chair.

Comm. 176.6: REQUESTS A PRESENTATION OF THE OCTOBER 2021 HAWEO AWARD
TO CHUCK SEGAWA, FIRE FIGHTER — HAWAI`I FIRE DEPARTMENT

Motion to Close File: Ms. Kierkiewicz moved to close file on Comm. 176.6.
Seconded by Mr. Kaneali `i-Kleinfelder.

APPRECIATION:
October 5, 2021
CHR. INABA: We just had a award two weeks ago presented, but we are now
making sure that we meet our awardee whether they are in Kona or in Hilo. So
we're in Hilo today, and thankful to have our Hawaii Fire Department `ohana.
Chief's here, and I guess I shall hand it to you, Chief Todd, to introduce our
awardee and share a little bit about his mo`olelo. And we can have Mr. Segawa,
come up at this time as well.
(Note: At this time, the October 2021 HAWEO Award was presented to
Chuck Segawa Fire Fighter from the Hawaii Fire Department in
recognition of going above and beyond the call of duty, and service to the
community. Fire Chief Kazuo Todd came forward and provided
statements regarding his exceptional activities in service to the
community. Chair Inaba provided a celebratory Hawaiian Chant.)
CHR. INABA: So with that, congratulations again, Mr. Segawa. We will close
up this meeting real quick so we can get a picture with you. So we have a motion
on the floor to close file on Communication 176.6. All those in favor please say
"aye."
