SUBJECT: Request for update on Public Access, Open Space, and Natural Resources
Preservation Fund
By means of this communication I am respectfully requesting a 15-minute update by Deanna
Sako, Finance Director(and/or her assignee), and/or the Office of the Mayor, followed by a
30-minute discussion relating to the status and timeline for compliance with Hawaii County
Charter Amendments relating to the Public Access, Open Space, and Natural Resources
Preservation Fund, as approved by voters during the November 3, 2020 election.
With the recent uptick in emails from island constituents on this topic, we believe it best to have
the information be provided before the appropriate Council Committee for discussion. Therefore,
I humbly request that this matter be referred to the appropriate committee for the November
2, 2021 agenda.
