Additional federally-derived funds in <br /> the amount of$97,880.80 are being provided by the State of Hawaii Department of <br /> Transportation to fund operations focused on reducing the number of drivers using <br /> electronic devices while operating vehicles. <br /> Enclosed is a bill for an ordinance amending the Operating Budget by appropriating these <br /> additional funds into the Hawaii County Police's Distracted Driving Project account, <br /> bringing the total appropriation to $171,880.80. <br /> The Police Department requests that this bill be waived from the Finance Committee and <br /> be placed on the November 3, 2021 Council agenda in order to expedite the receipt of <br /> these funds.
