Your Committee on Parks and Recreation and Public Safety, to which was referred Bill No. 75,
reports as follows:
Bill No. 75, transmitted via Communication No. 422, from Maile Medeiros David, Council
Member for District 6, dated September 30, 2021, amends Chapter 14, Article 1, of the Hawaii
County Code 1983 (2016 edition, as amended), relating to Alcoholic Beverages.
This measure prohibits the consumption of alcohol at H6naunau Boat Ramp and makes other
clerical changes.
Director Maurice Messina from Department of Parks and Recreation was available in Hilo
Council Chambers to respond to inquiry.
Several Council Members spoke in favor of the bill.
The vote was then taken on a motion to move this measure to Council with a positive
recommendation and passed with eight"ayes."
Your Committee on Parks and Recreation and Public Safety is in accord with the purpose and
intent of Bill No. 75, and recommends its passage on first reading.
