V of <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAIII STATE OF HAWAII <br /> a <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 257 21 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE LIONS CLUB OF <br /> KONA COMMUNITY FOUNDATION INC., TO ASSIST THE KONAWAENA HIGH <br /> SCHOOL LEO CLUB WITH ITS SOIL AND WATER CONSERVATION COMMUNITY <br /> OUTREACH PROJECT. <br /> WHEREAS,the Lions Club of Kona Community Foundation Inc., is a 5 0 1(c)(3) <br /> nonprofit organization whose mission is to develop and provide community service projects and <br /> activities that seek to improve the Kona community through humanitarian efforts; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Konawaena High School Leo Club, which serves as the youth branch of <br /> the Lions Club of Kona,has developed a partnership with the Kona Soil and Water Conservation <br /> District to to inform the community on the fragility of the Kona landscape and what the public <br /> needs to do to protect our land for future generations; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Lions Club of Kona Community Foundation Inc., is requesting funds to <br /> purchase supplies for community planting of native plants and for educational materials for the <br /> community outreach project; and <br /> WHEREAS, one of the goals of the Department of Research and Development is to <br /> support sustainable agricultural practices by promoting educational opportunities designed to <br /> build skills and capacity in the farm community; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 7 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Research and Development to provide a grant to the Lions Club of Kona Community Foundation <br /> Inc., to assist the Konawaea High School Leo Club with its soil and water conservation <br /> community outreach project. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
