A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE AUTISM SOCIETY
OF HAWAI‘I FOR THE 13TH ANNUAL SURFERS HEALING HAWAI‘I EVENT AT RICHARDSON OCEAN PARK.
WHEREAS, The Autism Society of Hawai‘i is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that serves individuals and families touched by autism, also known as autism spectrum disorder; and
WHEREAS, the Surfers Healing Hawai‘i event is a free, day-long surf camp for children with autism and other disabilities, and their families, that offers a natural and therapeutic experience
utilizing the weightlessness and rhythm of the ocean; and
WHEREAS, the 13th Annual Surfers Healing Hawai‘i event will be held on December 4, 2021, at Richardson Ocean Park and is made possible through partnerships with Surfers Healing Hawai‘i
Island Chapter, the Department of Parks and Recreation, The Autism Society of Hawai‘i, Double Good, and countless surfers and volunteers; and
WHEREAS, The Autism Society of Hawai‘i is requesting funds to assist with various expenses to host the 13th Annual Surfers Healing Hawai‘i event, such as refreshments, trophies, and
medals; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation provides and facilitates a wide array of services and programs that meet the needs of the Hawai‘i Island community and is supportive of
this initiative to provide recreational opportunities to those with disabilities; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai‘i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying
the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 3 will be appropriated to the Department of Parks and Recreation to provide
a grant to The Autism Society of Hawai‘i for the 13th Annual Surfers Healing Hawai‘i event at Richardson Ocean Park.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai‘i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:
