HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 257 Draft 01 2020-2022 A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE LIONS CLUB
OF KONA COMMUNITY FOUNDATION INC., TO ASSIST THE KONAWAENA HIGH SCHOOL LEO CLUB WITH ITS SOIL AND WATER CONSERVATION COMMUNITY OUTREACH PROJECT.
WHEREAS, the Lions Club of Kona Community Foundation Inc., is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to develop and provide community service projects and activities that
seek to improve the Kona community through humanitarian efforts; and
WHEREAS, the Konawaena High School Leo Club, which serves as the youth branch of the Lions Club of Kona, has developed a partnership with the Kona Soil and Water Conservation District
to to inform the community on the fragility of the Kona landscape and what the public needs to do to protect our land for future generations; and
WHEREAS, the Lions Club of Kona Community Foundation Inc., is requesting funds to purchase supplies for community planting of native plants and for educational materials for the community
outreach project; and
WHEREAS, one of the goals of the Department of Research and Development is to support sustainable agricultural practices by promoting educational opportunities designed to build skills
and capacity in the farm community; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai‘i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying
the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 7 will be appropriated to the Department of Research and Development to provide
a grant to the Lions Club of Kona Community Foundation Inc., to assist the Konawaea High School Leo Club with its soil and water conservation community outreach project.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai‘i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:
