SOLUTION NO. 260 21
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO HAWAII ISLAND
LGBTQ PRIDE FOR EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS AND SUPPLIES FOR
CLASSROOMS AND PUBLIC EVENTS.
WHEREAS, Hawaii Island LGBTQ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer)
Pride, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide opportunities for our
diverse community to gather together; and
WHEREAS, Hawaii Island LGBTQ Pride encourages communities to uplift and
celebrate expressions of love and identify through coordinating an annual LGBTQ Pride Parade
and by working with other community organizations to produce year-round events; and
WHEREAS, Hawaii Island LGBTQ Pride is requesting funds to continue distribution
of educational materials, age-appropriate classroom resources for teachers, and supplies for
children's activities at public events; and
WHEREAS, one of the goals of the Department of Liquor Control is to support public
and youth programs that promote educational activities in an alcohol-free and drug-free
environments; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 4 will be appropriated to the Department of
Liquor Control to provide a grant to Hawaii Island LGBTQ Pride for expenses related to
educational material and supplies for classrooms and public events.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Liquor Control and Director of Finance, and that the Director of
Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
