Your Committee on Finance,to which was referred Resolution No. 252-21, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 252-21, transmitted by Director of Finance Deanna S. Sako via Communication No. 465
dated October 15, 2021, authorizes the Office of the Mayor to enter into an agreement with the State of
Hawaii Department of Budget and Finance pursuant to Hawaii Revised Statutes Section 46-7, for a
grant to the Office of Housing and Community Development.
This resolution allows for the receipt of$69,000 in federally derived funds, which would be used to
implement a landlord-tenant mediation program for those impacted by the expiration of the moratorium
on evictions.
There was no discussion on the measure.
Pursuant to Section 46-7, Hawaii Revised Statutes, and Section 13-13, Hawaii County Charter,the
Mayor is authorized to apply for, receive, and expend the funds for contracts with private parties, other
counties, the State, or the United States government for functions or activities which the County is
authorized to perform.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 252-21, and
recommends its adoption.
