Nov. 3, Finance Committee SUBJECT: Support Comm. 461, 9 AM Wed. Nov. 3, Finance Committee Aloha County Council Officials, Why is the County ignoring County Charter amendments aimed at strengthening the 2% program? Scores of citizens worked for years to start up the Public Access, Open Space and Natural Resources Preservation program in 2006. It is funded by 2% of the property tax revenue. Last year voters approved an amendment calling for a 2% Administrator to acquire properties, seek matching funds, and pursue grants for stewardship of the lands. Voters also approved a second amendment to expedite grants to non-profits doing maintenance and stewardship. Why has neither amendment been acted on? Please support the will of the voters to preserve and protect our special places! Mahalo, Linda Burnham Larish =CD < Comm. No. Ref. o® PIFG Ref. Date 'NOV - 3 2021 1
