Dear County Council Officials,
It has come to my attention that the County is apparently ignoring County Charter amendments aimed at
strengthening the 2% program. As a constituent and as a tax payer, I must ask WHY? �
We citizens worked for years to start up the Public Access, Open Space and Natural Resources
Preservation program in 2006. It is funded by 2% of the property tax revenue.
As you surely must be aware, just last year voters approved an amendment calling for a 2% Administrator
to acquire properties, seek matching funds, and pursue grants for stewardship of the lands. Voters also
approved a second amendment to expedite grants to non-profits doing maintenance and stewardship.
What seems to be the problem here? This a tax payer who votes expects you to follow the law and support
the will of the voters to preserve and protect our special places!
