Dear Hawaii County Council Chair& Members,
We here at Cancino Family Farm do not support the resolution proposing to increase the minimum
amount of Hawaii grown coffee from 10%to 51% in Kona blends. We do support leaving the Kona
Coffee Blending requirements as they are at 10%Kona Coffee.
We are one of the larger Kona coffee processing mills in the industry and we support not changing the
current requirements because they have been in place for so long without being a problem. We feel that
if something is not broken it does not need fixing.The current standards and requirements are very
clear, easy to adhere to, have been the industry standard for a very long time, and should continue to be
so.The Kona coffee market is flourishing;there is no economic reason for the change in labeling.
We strongly oppose Resolution No.223-21.
