t <br /> JMtY°®s H, <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII <br /> •0.i <br /> • w k?±•p� <br /> �tE°6f Nt� <br /> SOLUTIO O. <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO KEAUKAHA SCHOOL <br /> FOUNDATION FOR KEAUKAHA ELEMENTARY SCHOOL'S PRESCHOOL <br /> ACTIVITIES IN THE 2021-2022 SCHOOL YEAR. <br /> WHEREAS, the Keaukaha School Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that <br /> supports the students and programs of Keaukaha Elementary School; and <br /> WHEREAS, Keaukaha Elementary School has a preschool program that is an <br /> experimental grant project of the State Department of Education; and <br /> WHEREAS, the preschool's "Hands-On, Minds-On" program provides educational <br /> experiences outside the school campus that are critical to early learning comprehension, which <br /> allows young children to establish a stronger association with objects and concepts through <br /> visual and tactile learning experiences; and <br /> WHEREAS, to promote"Hands-On, Minds-On" learning, the preschool is coordinating <br /> various excursions that will include visits to the Pana`ewa Rainforest Zoo and Gardens, `Imiloa <br /> Astronomy Center, Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting Station, Hilo Air Traffic Control Tower, <br /> `Aina University, Hobby Garden Hawaii, Honomu Goat Dairy, Kaunamano Farms, O.K. Farms, <br /> and Prince Ktihio Plaza; and <br /> WHEREAS, at the end of the school year, the preschool will have a graduation ceremony <br /> to celebrate the students' "Hands-On, Minds-On" learning and academic achievements; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Keaukaha School Foundation is requesting funds for transportation of <br /> students, admission fees, activity fees, and supplies for a graduation celebration; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation supports educational excursions <br /> and enrichment activities for the youth of Hawaii Island; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, <br /> service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 3 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to the Keaukaha School Foundation for Keaukaha <br /> Elementary School's preschool activities in the 2021-2022 school year. <br />
