I have worked and volunteered beside Jodie for countless hours over the past decade conducting coastal restoration activities in Ka`u. Jodie is a botanist by training and academia, but a community ecologist at heart, and she is highly knowledgeable about natural and cultural resources of this island, from mauka to makai. Plus, she is passionate about perpetuating cultural practices and being a conscientious community member in Hawaii Nei. Jodie would be an excellent addition to the PONC Commission to help guide decisions of our County land acquisition and stewardship funding activities within the realm of this Mayor's Commission. She is a great listener, excellent writer, and already a humble voice for public access, open space, and natural resource preservation. She is truly an asset to any team! Hopefully the Finance Commission moves forward swiftly in passing this nomination. Many thanks for your time and consideration. I am happy to take any follow-up questions on this candidate and apologize for not being able to testify live but we are conducting fieldwork offshore on Tuesday.
