Your Committee on Parks and Recreation and Public Safety, to which was referred
Communication No. 489, reports as follows:
Communication No. 489, transmitted by Mayor Mitchell D. Roth, dated October 27, 2021,
submitting for the Council's review and confirmation the appointment of Brian Harrington to the
Veterans Advisory Committee.
Executive Assistant Pomaika`i Bartolome was present at Council Chambers in Hilo and
introduced the nominee who appeared via zoom.
Several Council Members spoke in favor of Mr. Harrington's appointment. Chair Inaba informed
Mr. Harrington that final confirmation at full Council will be on December 8, 2021, in Hilo.
Pursuant to Chapter 15, Article 7, Section 15-61 of the Hawaii County Code,members of the
Veterans Advisory Committee shall be appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by Council.
Your Committee on Parks and Recreation and Public Safety is in accord with the purpose and intent
of Communication No. 489, and recommends confirmation of the appointment of Brian Harrington
to the Veterans Advisory Committee.
