A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO VIBRANT HAWAI‘I
TO SUPPORT HAʻAHEO ELEMENTARY SCHOOL PARENT TEACHER ORGANIZATION’S TENT PROGRAM.
WHEREAS, Vibrant Hawai‘i is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose kuleana, mission, and approach to systems transformation is to convene conversations so that all waʻa travel toward
a common goal; build community awareness, will, and action from the foundation of our shared values; shift deficit narratives, systems, and policies that perpetuate poverty and inequity;
and implement strategies that are developed and resourced by the community and reflect native intelligence; and
WHEREAS, one of the main areas of focus for Vibrant Hawai‘i is educational initiatives that create learning pathways and connections to ʻāina, ʻohana, and communities; and
WHEREAS, Vibrant Hawai‘i is working in partnership with the Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) for Haʻaheo Elementary School to support its tent program, which will allow teachers to
conduct outdoor classes in a shaded environment to enhance student learning; and
WHEREAS, Vibrant Hawaiʻi is requesting funds to purchase an inclement-weather tent and to pay for associated setup fees; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports youth programs that promote educational activities in a drug-free and alcohol-free environment; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai‘i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying
the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 1 will be appropriated to the Department of Liquor Control to provide a grant
to Vibrant Hawai‘i to support Haʻaheo Elementary School Parent Teacher Organization’s tent program.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai‘i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:
