A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO HAWAI‘I ISLAND LGBTQ
PRIDE TO SUPPORT ITS 10TH ANNUAL PRIDE PARADE AND FESTIVAL.
WHEREAS, Hawai‘i Island LGBTQ Pride is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide opportunities for youth and the community to gather together and celebrate love,
diversity, and equality; and
WHEREAS, Hawai‘i Island LGBTQ Pride’s 10th Annual Pride Parade and Festival brings members of the LGBTQ community together to affirm their fundamental rights and place in Hawai‘i County;
and
WHEREAS, the 10th Annual Pride Parade and Festival will be held on June 25, 2022, along Hilo bayfront and at the Moʻoheau Park bandstand; and
WHEREAS, Hawai‘i Island LGBTQ Pride is requesting funds to cover expenses for parade safety (police presence), banners, trophies, and porta-potty rentals for its 10th Annual Pride Parade
and Festival; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports organizations that promote family-friendly events and activities in a drug-free and alcohol-free environment; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai‘i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying
the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 1 will be appropriated to the Department of Liquor Control to provide a grant
to Hawai‘i Island LGBTQ Pride to support its 10th Annual Pride Parade and Festival.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai‘i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this resolution.
