Aloha Council Chair David and Council Members:
It is my pleasure to nominate Michael Konowicz of Council District 9 to the Cost of Government
Commission.
Mr. Konowicz has had a connection to Hawaii Island from the 1990s and is a resident of South
Kohala for the past four years. A scientist at heart,he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in
Environmental Sciences. Previously, he served on both the local Environmental Commission
and the Planning and Zoning Commission on the mainland.
Mr. Konowicz is a business owner, meteorologist, and journalist, with the skills to study and
investigate the organizations and methods of operation of the county government to determine
what changes, if any,may be desirable. He is an active volunteer at World Vision, the American
Cancer Society, and the National MS Society. If confirmed, he will serve a term from January
1, 2022, to November 30, 2022.
