Aloha Council Chair David and Council Members:
It is my pleasure to nominate Daniel Malakie III of Council District 7 to the Cost of Government
Commission.
Mr, Malakie is a 20-year resident of Hawaii and a retired Captain in the United States Army,
bravely serving as a Medical Evacuation Executive Officer 1 Pilot from 2005 to 2013. He is
currently employed by Paradise Helicopters as a Pilot, and Director of Safety/Operations, and is
a Balefire Safety Solution Safety Auditor.
Mr. Malakie holds a Bachelors Degree in Aeronautical Science from Embry Riddle Aeronautical
University, and earned his Masters Degree in Business Administration. He currently volunteers
his time and expertise on the Kona General Aviation Committee and the Helicopter Association
Safety Working Group. If confirmed he will serve a term from January 1, 2022, to November
30, 2022.
