The Council originally confirmed Mr. <br /> Nahaku`elua in July of 2017 and he is eligible to succeed himself for an additional five year <br /> term. <br /> As noted previously, Mr. Nahaku`elua, born and raised in Hilo, is a U.S. Army Veteran having <br /> served 6 years of active duty including one year in Afganistan. He is a member of the Veterans <br /> of Foreign Wars #3830 and the Hawaii Island Veterans Memorial, Inc. <br /> After serving our country Mr. Nahaku`elua took advantage of the GI Bill, earning a BA in <br /> Psychology from UH Hilo and a Masters Degree in Social Work from UH Manoa. He works as <br /> a social worker in adult mental health with the State Department of Health. Mr. Nahaku`elua is <br /> also a prolific artist. If confirmed, Mr. Nahaku`elue will serve a second five-year term to end <br /> December 31, 2026. <br /> Your favorable confirmation is requested.
