Aloha Council Chair David and Council Members:In accordance with the County Charter Section 13-4, I submit Isaac Nahaku`elua for re-
appointment to the Veterans Advisory Committee. The Council originally confirmed Mr.
Nahaku`elua in July of 2017 and he is eligible to succeed himself for an additional five year
term.
As noted previously, Mr. Nahaku`elua, born and raised in Hilo, is a U.S. Army Veteran having
served 6 years of active duty including one year in Afganistan. He is a member of the Veterans
of Foreign Wars #3830 and the Hawaii Island Veterans Memorial, Inc.
After serving our country Mr. Nahaku`elua took advantage of the GI Bill, earning a BA in
Psychology from UH Hilo and a Masters Degree in Social Work from UH Manoa. He works as
a social worker in adult mental health with the State Department of Health. Mr. Nahaku`elua is
also a prolific artist. If confirmed, Mr. Nahaku`elue will serve a second five-year term to end
December 31, 2026.
