It is my pleasure to nominate Claude S. Onizuka of Council District 7 to the Liquor Commission.
Mr, Onizuka, a lifelong resident of Hawaii, retired in 2012 as Director of Community Relations
of Hokuli`a. He previously served as branch manager for both Kona Community Federal Credit
Union(1971-1986), and American Savings Bank (1989-2005).
Mr. Onizuka's service to our community includes his role as Chairman of the Astronaut Ellison
Onizuka Memorial from 2005 to the present and as past Director of the Kona Junior Golf
Program. Mr. Onizuka is a United States Army Vietnam Veteran. If confirmed,he will serve a
term to end December 31, 2026.
