Subject: Support Bill 91
Aloha Councilmembers,
I support BILL 91, please pass it.
This prohibits the use of glyphosate-based pesticides by the County or its contractors in County parks and facilities listed in Section
15-68.
We must stop poisoning our parks and the children who play there!
While there may be some short term costs, these will be outweighed by the future savings once ground covers and other natural
weed controls are in place. We won't know until we try.
If short term cost savings is the main goal,we should close the parks! Wait, that's not the answer? We want the parks to be safe,
fun places to play and recreate? Then it may be worth money in the short term, and the health and safety of our keiki is worth
something, yes? Please vote as if our children's health is important.
Glyphosate is a cancer causing chemical that is being phased out worldwide. Let's do our part.
Mahalo,
Russell Ruderman,
former state Senator, local businessperson.
