The regular meeting of the Committee on Parks and Recreation and Public
ORDER:
Safety was called to order at 9:01 a.m., in the Council Chambers, Kailua-Kona, by

AGENDA ITEMS: The Chair called Johnny "John" Hiduchick Nakayama, who registered to speak in
support of Comm. 490, and came forward when called.
CHR. INABA: With that, we'll close public testimony. Mr. Brown if we could
move on to Communication 489, please.
COMMUNI- The Chair directed the Committee to proceed to the next order of business,

Comm. 489: NOMINATION OF BRIAN HARRINGTON TO THE VETERANS ADVISORY
COMMITTEE
From Mayor Mitchell D. Roth, dated October 27, 2021, requesting the Council's
review and confirmation.

Vote on Comm. 489: Ms. Lee Loy moved to recommend confirmation of the
(Approved) appointment of Mr. Brian Harrington to the Veterans Advisory
Committee. Seconded by Mr. Richards and carried by the
following voice vote:
Ayes: Committee Members David,
Kaneali`i-Kleinfelder, Kierkiewicz,
Kimball, Lee Loy, Richards, Villegas,
and Chair Inaba — 8.
Noes: None.
Absent: Committee Member Chung — 1.
Excused: None.
Executive Assistant to the Mayor Pomaika`i Bartolome came forward and
provided a brief narrative of the nominee's background and experience.
Committee Members spoke in favor of the appointment.
CHR. INABA: Mr. Clerk, Communication 490, please.
Comm. 490: NOMINATION OF LAURIE SOARES TO THE VETERANS ADVISORY
COMMITTEE
From Mayor Mitchell D. Roth, dated October 27, 2021, requesting the Council's
review and confirmation.
Vote on Comm. 490: Ms. Lee Loy moved to recommend confirmation of the
(Approved) appointment of Ms. Laurie Soares to the Veterans Advisory
Committee. Seconded by Mr. Richards and carried by the
following voice vote:
Ayes: Committee Members David,
Kaneali`i-Kleinfelder, Kierkiewicz,
Kimball, Lee Loy, Richards, Villegas,
and Chair Inaba — 8.
Noes: None.
Absent: Committee Member Chung — 1.
