SUBJECT: TRAFFIC CODE AMENDMENT
KALANIANAOLE STREET: Proposed no pazking zones
The Hilo Road Improvement, Phase III project has provided new concrete sidewalks with afive-foot
wide "Bike Path" on Kalanianaole Street between Keokea Loop Road and Apapane Street . The makai
lane along this section will be too narrow to accommodate both through traffic and parked vehicles. A
location map is attached.
We ask for your review and consideration for adoption of the subject amendment.

ORDINANCE NO.
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 24, OF THE HAWAII COUNTY CODE 1983
(1995 EDITION), RELATING TO VEHICLES AND TRAFFIC.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. Chapter, 24, article 10, division 5, section 24 -280, schedule 28 (No parking
at anytime), subsection (c) South Hilo, of the Hawaii County Code 1983 (1995 edition), is
amended by adding the following to be appropriately numbered and to read as follows:
u Kalanianaole Street, north side. from a point eight hundred fifty feet west
of Onekahakaha Beach Road and extending westward to Apapane Street.
SECTION 2. New material is underscored. In printing this ordinance, the underscoring
need not be included.
SECTION 3. If any provision of this ordinance, or the application thereof to any person
or circumstance, is held invalid, such invalidity shall not affect other provisions or applications
of the ordinance which can be given effect without the invalid provision or application, and to
this end, the provisions of this ordinance are declared to be severable.
SECTION 4. This ordinance shall take effect upon its approval.
