A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE FRIENDS OF
LILI`UOKALANI GARDENS FOR ITS CHRISTMAS IN THE PARK EVENT.
WHEREAS, the Friends of Lili`uokalani Gardens is a 501(c)(3)nonprofit organization
that prepares for activities and festive events throughout the year and is dedicated to fostering,
improving, and maintaining the 24-acre cultural landscape at Lili`uokalani Gardens; and
WHEREAS, thousands of visitors and residents participate in a variety of activities and
community events at Lili`uokalani Gardens; and
WHEREAS, on December 23-25, 2021,the Friends of Lili`uokalani Gardens will be
hosting its "Garden Enchantment" a drive-thru Christmas in the Park event, where visitors and
residents will be able to drive through the park and view the different trees being lit up in the
spirit of the season; and
WHEREAS,the Friends of Lili`uokalani Gardens is requesting funds for security,
insurance,promotional packages, and gas for the generators that is needed to light up the
event; and
WHEREAS, this event falls within the goals of the Department of Parks and Recreation
to provide community events to perpetuate and preserve cultural, ethnic, and community
traditions; and
WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 5 will be appropriated to the Department of
Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to the Friends of Lili`uokalani Gardens for its Christmas
in the Park event.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Parks and Recreation and Director of Finance, and that the Director
of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of
this resolution.
