Your Committee on Parks and Recreation and Public Safety, to which was referred
Communication No. 514, reports as follows:
Communication No. 514, transmitted by Mayor Mitchell D. Roth, dated November 18, 2021,
submitting for the Council's review and confirmation the nomination of Michael Hughes of
Council District 7 to the Liquor Control Adjudication Board.
Executive Assistant Pomaika`i Bartolome was present in Hilo Council Chambers and introduced
the nominee who appeared from the Kona Council Office.
Council Member Heather Kimball commented in favor of the nominee's appointment. Chair
Inaba informed the nominee that final confirmation at full Council will be on December 22, 2021
in Kona.
Pursuant to Sections 7-3.3 and 13-4 of the Hawaii County Charter, members of the Liquor
Control Adjudication Board shall be appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by Council.
Your Committee on Parks and Recreation and Public Safety is in accord with the purpose and intent
of Communication No. 514 and recommends confirmation of the appointment of Michael Hughes to
the Liquor Control Adjudication Board.
