Committee Chair Matt Kaneali`i-Kleinfelder provided comments in support of the nomination, noting
the knowledge of finances Mr. Kusch is able to bring to the commission as well as his County
perspective and volunteer background.

Pursuant to Section 5-2.2 Hawaii County Code, there shall be a cost of government commission which
shall be appointed by the Mayor with the approval of the Council.

Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Communication No. 504, and
recommends confirmation of the appointment of Matthias Kusch to the Cost of Government
Commission.
