Committee Member Holeka Goro Inaba stated that he appreciates some of the ideas Mr. Obenski has
and hopes he will be able to work well with other commission members to provide tangible
recommendations.
Committee Member Aaron S.Y. Chung stated that he would be voting"no"for this meeting due to
Mr. Obenski's tardiness for symbolic reasons, but would likely vote "yes" at the Council vote.
Committee Member Ashley L. Kierkiewicz suggested that Mr. Obenski look at reports from prior
Cost of Government Commissions, so that he can assess departments by how they are meeting
recommendations from previous years.
Pursuant to Section 5-2.2 Hawaii County Code, there shall be a cost of government commission which
shall be appointed by the Mayor with the approval of the Council.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Communication No. 505, and
recommends confirmation of the appointment of Kenneth Obenski to the Cost of Government
Commission.
