I am testifying for two things, Bill 91 (C491) and Res. 276-21, Higashihara Park } maintenance. } I support Bill 91 (C491) to BAN Glyphosate on County Parks! Amending Chapter 15, by adding a new article 12 prohibiting use of glyphosate-based pesticides in County Parks and Recreational Facilities is wonderful. It is great to know that Parks and Recreation is trying to move in this direction as a collaborative effort. It is an easy line to see how it impacts us all and especially our children. I support Res. 267-21 towards maintaining our only current playground in Kona that services a wider range of age group and it's in a cooler climate for our children to play in. Higashihara park is in need of serious support. It is the only semi inspiring and imaginative playground we have here in Kona. Kona needs a more exciting, thoughtful & inspiring playground facilities like Hilo, Volcano, Waimea and Waikaloa has. KOMPAN has an impactful playground, with research that simulates brain connectivity, emotional, vestibular system balancing, hand and feet stimulation that addresses a more challenging, creative, inclusive play concept that is designed to prepare children for learning and to obtain emotional balance. This play space also services our ohana outside of Kona who commute through or work in Kona. We need this in Kona for our next generation. Kona lacks such a space and I advocate to envision something more for Kona as our families face the stress with lack of diversity in jobs, mental emotional challenges and a massive housing crisis. A playground is a safe sanctuary space for families. It must provide our children the support of regenerative self care we all need through physical play during a time of computer technology and Zoom meetings. Please support a better future for us all. No more Glyphosate in County Parks & let's give our keikis a better play space. Mahalo for truly listening to our concerns, Clair Mason Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, County District 7 Comm. No. Ref. To:- Ref.
