I azar,testify ring for b,vo things,, Bill 91 (C491)and lies. 276-2i, Higashihara Park maintenance.
I support Bill 91(0491)to BAN, Glyphosate on County Parks! Arriendiug Chapter 1.,S,by,
adding a neer-article 12 prohibiting use of glyphosate-based pesticides in County Parks and
Recreational Facilities. It is very consoling to know that Parks and Recreation is trying to move
in this direction as a collaborative and hopefully-. a cohesive effort. It is pretty common sense to
know how these t7pes of pesticides adverseli,impact all of us especially our children, not to
forget it has a dire effect on the plant and bird life in and around the parks.No chemicals!.
I support Res.2 67-2-1 towards maintaining Baur only,current playground in Kona,Higashihara
Park, which serves a,gide range of age groups and I love,its location in a cooler climate,making
play=-for our keiki so much more enjoyable. Higashihara,park:is in meed of serious support. Itis
the only semi inspiring and imaginative playground,;,ve have here in bona. Kona surely can
benei- om more,exciting,,thoughtful&inspiring playground facilities like ogres found in Hilo,,
VToleano,,Waimea and y.V aikal.oa. KOMPAN has an impactful playground,�Mth research that
simulates brain connectivity,emotional.,vestibular system balancing,hand and feet stimulation
at address-es a more challenging"creativa, inclusive play,concept that is designed to prepare
children for learning and to obtain emotional balance,.This play space also services our ohana
outside of Iona who commute to and who work in Iona.
We need this in Iona for our next generation. Iona lacks such a space and I advocate more
creative play-space for Kona, particularly-as our families face high stress levels,facing the lack
of diversity in job`, mental and emotional challenges and a massive housing crisis.
A.playground should be created u th the intent of providing a safe sanctuary space for families.
It must provide our children the support of rege-tierat-ive se `care we.all need through
physical play-during a time of overconsumption of computer technology and Zoom meetings,
that even children are facing,such as i�ith online schooling..
Please support a better future for us all. No more Glyphosate in County-Parks&let's give our
keikis a better,more inspiring play space,
