Subject: Bill 91 Testimony
Aloha Council: I write to ask that you PLEASE pass Bill 91 when it comes to a vote-as we really need to move away from repeated
toxic contamination activities on our island. It's especially important to do this now, in the midst of a global pandemic-continued
glyphosate use will certainly exacerbate immune-system issues for many residents&especially our keiki, as well as those visitors
who come seeking a 'pristine'environment often advertised in eco-tourism promotion.Sadly- in my few years as a property owner
here I've already witnessed much degradation of once-robust local tree species,which now exhibit prolific signs of various strange
diseases/infestation... it.seems clear that they are suffering a biological breakdown.
I've also worked on Kaua'i farms where arsenic residue from prior pineapple cultivation still lingered for decades after&seriously
compromised the quality of organic produce,even with use of intensive bio-dynamic soil-improvement methods.On this island we
also have much honey&queen-bee production that needs vigilant protection to remain a vital/viable part of our economy-
continued toxin exposure does NOT help achieve this. We have the means to control weeds without poisonous chemical products,as
detailed by Blake Watson (of Beyond Pesticides)in his testimony-please take note&work to promote a truly healthy island reality
by passing Bill 91. Mahalo....
