Your Committee on Parks and Recreation and Public Safety, to which was referred
Communication No. 553, reports as follows:
Communication No. 553, transmitted by Mayor Mitchell D. Roth, dated November 24, 2021,
submitting for the Council's review and confirmation the appointment of Antonio Gaspar to the
Veterans Advisory Committee.
Executive Assistant Pomaika'i Bartolome attended via zoom and introduced the nominee who
appeared from the Kona Council Office.
Several Council Members spoke in favor of the nominee's appointment, and Chair Inaba
informed him that final confirmation at Council will be on January 19, 2022, in Kona.
Pursuant to Chapter 15, Article 7, Section 15-61 of the Hawaii County Code, members of the
Veterans Advisory Committee shall be appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the Council.
Your Committee on Parks and Recreation and Public Safety is in accord with the purpose and intent
of Communication No. 553, and recommends confirmation of the appointment of Antonio Gaspar to
the Veterans Advisory Committee.
