REPORT OF THE <br /> COMMITTEE ON FINANCE <br /> DATE: January 4, 2022 Re: Comm.No. 562 <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> Hilo, Hawaii <br /> TIME: 1:02 p.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawaii County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Communication No. 562, reports as follows: <br /> Communication No. 562, transmitted by the Honorable Mayor Mitchell D. Roth dated <br /> December 16, 2021, nominates Shannon Matson of Council District 5 to the Cost of Government <br /> Commission. <br /> Executive Assistant to the Mayor Pomaika`i Bartolome introduced the nominee. Ms. Bartolome <br /> stated that Ms. Matson is self-employed as a yoga teacher and a volunteer in the community. Along <br /> with serving on the board of the Sierra Club, Recycle Hawaii and Ahava `Aina,Ms. Matson also <br /> participates in Hawaii Wildlife Fund beach clean-ups and in food distribution events within the <br /> community. <br /> If confirmed, Ms. Matson would serve a term from January 1, 2022, to November 30, 2022. <br /> Ms. Matson briefly introduced herself and her background. <br /> Committee Chair Matt Kaneali`i-Kleinfelder and Committee Members Ashley L. Kierkiewicz and <br /> Heather L.
