Re: Bill 91: To Ban Glyphosate in County Parks and Facilities
Aloha, Members of the Hawaii County Council:
The Environmental Caucus of the Democratic Party of Hawaii strongly supports Bill 91,
which would ban the use of glyphosate in County parks and facilities.
Glyphosate is a deadly toxin that severely harms humans and animals. It has no place in
our ecosystem, and it should never be used. The scientific literature is overwhelming, and it is
not subject to any reasonable dispute.
We congratulate Councilmember Villegas for introducing and supporting this bill, and we
strongly urge its passage. We greatly regret that political opposition has made it impossible so far
for a similar bill to be adopted by the State Legislature. Thank you very much for considering
our testimony on behalf of 5,342 members of the Environmental Caucus Statewide.
