Regarding Bill 91 - Banning herbicide use by the County Department of Parks and Recreation

1 Oppose Bill 91 banning the use of the herbicide glyphosate.
The EPA continues to find that there are no risks of concern to human health when glyphosate is used in
accordance with its current label. EPA also found that glyphosate is unlikely to be a human
carcinogen. The steps that the County of Hawaii took more than 2 years ago to curb herbicide use has
already cut back use of this herbicide. It is also contentious for the County of Hawaii to adopt an ordinance
that is contrary to Federal and State regulations and ignores sound scientific review. Doing so potentially
exposes the County to costly litigation.
