The regular meeting of the Committee on Parks and Recreation and Public
ORDER:
Safety was called to order at 9:00 a.m., in the Council Chambers, Hilo, by

Comms. 553 and 557, and came forward when called.

COMMUNI- The Chair directed the Committee to proceed to the next order of business,

Comm. 553: NOMINATION OF ANTONIO GASPAR TO THE VETERANS ADVISORY
COMMITTEE
From Mayor Mitchell D. Roth, dated November 24, 2021, requesting the
Council's review and confirmation.

Vote on Comm. 553: Ms. Lee Loy moved to recommend confirmation of the
(Approved) appointment of Mr. Antonio Gaspar to the Veterans
Advisory Committee. Seconded by Mr. Richards and
carried by the following voice vote:
Ayes: Committee Members David, Kaneali`i-Kleinfelder,
Kierkiewicz, Kimball, Lee Loy, Richards, and
Chair Inaba — 7.
Noes: None.
Absent: Committee Members Chung and Villegas — 2.
Excused: None.
Executive Assistant to the Mayor Pomaika`i Bartolome came forward and
provided a brief narrative of the nominee's background and experience.
Committee Members spoke in favor of the appointment.
CHR. INABA: And we'll move on at this time to Communication 557, please
Mr. Clerk.
Comm. 557: NOMINATION OF DOUG GORA TO THE VETERANS ADVISORY
COMMITTEE
From Mayor Mitchell D. Roth, dated December 3, 2021, requesting the Council's
review and confirmation.
Vote on Comm. 557: Ms. Lee Loy moved to recommend confirmation of the
(Approved) appointment of Mr. Doug Goro to the Veterans Advisory
Committee. Seconded by Mr. Richards and carried by the
following voice vote:
Ayes: Committee Members David, Kaneali`i-Kleinfelder,
Kierkiewicz, Kimball, Lee Loy, Richards, and
Chair Inaba — 7.
Noes: None.
Absent: Committee Members Chung and Villegas — 2.
Excused: None.
