Enclosed is a resolution accepting a donation of COVID vaccination transportation
services up to $75,000 from Uber. This donation covers transportation to get to the
vaccination site and to return home for both the first and second COVID vaccination
shots.

A. REQUEST:
Accept donation from Uber regarding funding a vaccination transportation program for Hawai'i Island in the
amount of$75,000.
B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
The County was successful in receiving a donation from Uber in the amount fo $75,000 to support the
implementation of a vaccination transportation program on Hawai'i Island. In order to use the program, a
person would create an Uber Account and download a voucher in the amount of$15.00 from the Mass
Transit Agency website. The person would travel to any vaccination site shown on the Uber app based on
the County's COVID-19 GIS map. A user can get up to four vouchers- one to go to the vaccination site, one
to go back home and another to go to the vaccination site for a booster or second shot and another to go
back home. No funds are provided to the County as this is managed through the Uber app and a
dashboard called Uber Central. Once the $75,000 has been used up, the program ends.

RE: RESOLUTION NO. 310-22 : A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE
ACCEPTANCE OF A DONATION OF COVID VACCINATION
TRANSPORATION SERVICES FROM UBER.
Pursuant to Section 2(g) of Rule 4 of the Rules of Procedure of the Council of the County of
Hawai`i, this written request is submitted with my approval that the above-referenced matter be
waived from the Committee on Finance to the full Council for immediate action. In reviewing
this matter, timely approval is crucial. It is therefore advantageous that approval is granted and
the matter be placed onto the next Council agenda for review. However, in the event this request
is denied, for whatever reason, I understand the matter shall be referred to the Committee on
Finance for placement on its future agenda.
