RESOLUTION NO. 312 22
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO KEALAKEHE
PROJECT GRAD FOR THE 2022 GRADUATES OF KEALAKEHE HIGH SCHOOL
AND WEST HAWAII EXPLORATIONS ACADEMY.
WHEREAS, Kealakehe Project Grad, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, provides
healthy and fun activities in a safe environment for the graduating students of Kealakehe High
School and West Hawaii Explorations Academy; and
WHEREAS, Kealakehe Project Grad is hosting its graduation-night celebration for the
2022 graduates of Kealakehe High School and West Hawaii Explorations Academy in May
2022; and
WHEREAS, Kealakehe Project Grad is requesting funds to help pay for meals, various
entertainment, games, snacks, activities, transportation, and other expenses associated with the
graduation-night celebration; and
WHEREAS, should the graduation-night celebration be cancelled due to the COVID-19
pandemic, Kealakehe Project Grad requests that these funds be used to provide gifts and
memorabilia to acknowledge and congratulate the 2022 graduates of Kealakehe High School and
West Hawaii Explorations Academy; and
WHEREAS,the Department of Liquor Control supports organizations and programs that
improve the lives of young people through supervised alcohol-, tobacco-, and drug-free activities
intended to promote growth and learning in a safe environment; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 7 will be appropriated to the Department of
Liquor Control to provide a grant to Kealakehe Project Grad for the 2022 graduates of Kealakehe
High School and West Hawaii Explorations Academy.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Liquor Control and Director of Finance, and that the Director of
Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
