A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO LAʻIʻŌPUA 2020 FOR
REIMBURSEMENT OF EXPENSES RELATED TO ITS KONA MELE PROJECT.
WHEREAS, Laʻiʻōpua 2020 is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide social, recreational, vocational, educational, and cultural opportunities to the communities
in Kona; and
WHEREAS, Laʻiʻōpua 2020’s Kona Mele Project is a video production that took place in February 2022 at historical landmark locations in Kona that featured Kona musicians, hula practitioners,
and students from Ke Kula ʻO ʻEhunuikaimalino and Kealakehe Intermediate and High Schools; and
WHEREAS, Laʻiʻōpua 2020 is requesting funds for reimbursement of expenses for COVID tests and supplies as well as lei and floral supplies related to its Kona Mele Project; and
WHEREAS, one of the goals of the Department of Liquor Control is to support organizations and programs that promote educational activities in a drug- and alcohol-free environment; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai‘i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying
the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 7 will be appropriated to the Department of Liquor Control to provide a grant
to Laʻiʻōpua 2020 to reimburse expenses related to its Kona Mele Project.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai‘i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this resolution.
