Subject: free bus rides
This message is in regards to the bill on free bus rides. I oppose the bill due to events occurred the last time FREE BUS rides was
given during Mayor Kim's first term in office. I believe it will be a very bad idea to adopt the idea because of past events that
led to the stop of free rides.There will be huge problems when you pass the FREE RIDE bill. I know because I worked for the
Mass Transit dept. during that time.There will be problems with homeless people and trouble makers riding the bus everyday
destroying the buses and causing problems on the bus disrupting the bus service due to disorderly conduct, drug use,fights
and anything else that would require police assistance.Check the police records. They will damage the bus seats break the
windows and trash the inside of the bus. I know be cause we had to repair all the damage.There was an incident when the bus
driver was attacked by one of those riders while the bus was in motion. If you don't believe me talk to the transit office
workers that was there when all this problems happened. If you do pas the bill you will have to have police presence on every
bus to prevent those events from happening.The cost to repair all the damage and preventable measures will be high. you
people don't provide enough funds for the Transit dept.to begin with. Council member LeLoy needs to do more research
before pushing for the passing of this bill.All the problems will be on your backs to correct.
