Subject: ACTION 1: Oppose Shane Vincent to Leeward Planning Commission
00
to NO on Communication ..
Good morning to you, Hawaii County Councilmembers,
My name is Setsuko Morinoue from Holualoa, a residence of the Leeward side of the Big Island for over 50 years.
I just learned about another "RED Flagged" matter is approaching and threatening West Hawaii's future.
I read the Mayor's REQUEST letter submitting the nominee for the Leeward Planning Commission.
I do OPPOSE the nomination of Shane Vincent to the Leeward Planning Commission.
His background and his livelihood tell that he is for nothing but developments and focus on how he/his company can
make more money. This is so convenient for him. We call this "a conflict of interest"
Again my big disappointment on our Mayor Roth who came up with submitting him and our council-members who
have YES in supporting this action.
We do not need to have Mr. Vincent to be our commissioner who I assume that he will make more beneficial for his
own businesses. "Conflict of Interest" or/and "Self-interest" are the issue here, and we should know better that non of
our selected persons who work for our offices do not come with this issue at first.
The Leeward side developments are moving fast and large area and that is threatening local people, their life-style and
its culture.
Please say enough of developments and focus on restoring and restructuring the Leeward area for the betterment of
all.
We need a selected person who will be able to represent the local people, to sustain and improve our lives, culture
enrichment, and sustain our natural resources for our future.
It is the time we should learn from the past and change our priorities to the importance of our life and cultural value
more than money value.
Centering "Economy" will destroy not only people but also our AINA, our EARTH. We must put"EARTH FIRST"
as our core concern.
If we could build or restore a culturally rich community, the economy will naturally grow positively and will benefit
all of us and not a few.
We need is an expert who practices "Earth First" based thinker, Kahuna as our commissioner today.
I vote NO on Communication 563.
Thank you very much.
Aloha,
Setsuko Morinoue
