SUBJECT: Request for a presentation from Big Island Electric Vehicle Association to discuss de- {
carbonization of the transportation sector and to update the Council on trends and data
related to electric vehicles.
This memorandum is being submitted to request a 30-minute presentation from Big Island Electric
Vehicle Association followed by 15-minutes for questions and answers on the decarbonization of the
transportation sector and an update on trends and data related to electric vehicles in Hawaii County.
Presentation will include a status update on adoption of manufacturers' commitment to emissions
reductions,the status of Hawaii County infrastructure as it pertains to electric vehicles, the current
rate of adoption of electric vehicles in Hawaii County as well as market rate projections for new
vehicles and infrastructure.
Please place this item on the Public Works and Mass Transit Committee Agenda on February 22,
2022. I request that this presentation precede the introduction of Bill No. 120 in order to inform
discussion about the bill.
