No. 307-22 <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> Hilo, Hawaii <br /> TIME: 9:01 a.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawaii County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 307-22, reports as follows: <br /> Resolution No. 307-22, transmitted by the Council Member Maile Medeiros David via <br /> Communication No. 594 dated January 20, 2022, awards a Public Access, Open Space, and Natural <br /> Resources Preservation Maintenance Fund stewardship grant to Ho`omalu Ka`u. <br /> This resolution approves a grant of$24,275 to Ho`omalu Ka`u, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, <br /> to protect, preserve, and restore the Kahua `Olohu Kaunamano properties in Ka`u,pursuant to <br /> Section 10-16(h) of the Hawaii County Charter. <br /> Ms. David provided background on the measure, clarifying that Na Mamo O Kawa amended their <br /> 2021 application as requested and that Parks & Recreation gave a positive recommendation for the <br /> grant. Ms. David then thanked Keoni Fox and others from Na Mamo O Kawa for testifying on the <br /> measure and for their work for the organization. <br /> Committee Member Susan L. K. Lee Loy thanked Ms. David for forwarding the resolution. <br /> Pursuant to Section 10-16(h)(1), Hawaii County Charter, an award of a Public Access, Open Space, and <br /> Natural Resources Preservation Maintenance Fund stewardship grant shall be by council resolution. <br /> Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 307-22, and <br /> recommends its adoption.
