A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO MALAMA O PUNA TO ESTABLISH A NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH GROUP FOR HAWAIIAN BEACHES. WHEREAS, Malama O Puna is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, volunteer service organization whose mission is to provide community resources to maintain a safe and healthy community through environmental education, hands-on projects, advocacy, watchdogging, and land trusting; and WHEREAS,the Hawaiian Beaches subdivision is the only major subdivision in Puna that does not have a neighborhood watch group; and WHEREAS, Malama O Puna has volunteered to be a fiscal sponsor to help establish and support a neighborhood watch group for Hawaiian Beaches; and WHEREAS, Malama O Puna is requesting funds to purchase equipment and supplies to establish a neighborhood watch group for Hawaiian Beaches; and WHEREAS, the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney's goal is to improve the criminal justice system by identifying areas of need and working collaboratively with the community; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 4 will be appropriated to the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney to provide a grant to Malama O Puna to establish a neighborhood watch group for Hawaiian Beaches. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:
