RESOLUTION NO. 327 22 .
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED
FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO MALAMA O PUNA TO ESTABLISH A
NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH GROUP FOR HAWAIIAN BEACHES.
WHEREAS, Malama O Puna is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, volunteer service organization
whose mission is to provide community resources to maintain a safe and healthy community
through environmental education, hands-on projects, advocacy, watchdogging, and land trusting;
and
WHEREAS,the Hawaiian Beaches subdivision is the only major subdivision in Puna
that does not have a neighborhood watch group; and
WHEREAS, Malama O Puna has volunteered to be a fiscal sponsor to help establish and
support a neighborhood watch group for Hawaiian Beaches; and
WHEREAS, Malama O Puna is requesting funds to purchase equipment and supplies to
establish a neighborhood watch group for Hawaiian Beaches; and
WHEREAS, the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney's goal is to improve the criminal
justice system by identifying areas of need and working collaboratively with the community;
and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 4 will be appropriated to the Office of the
Prosecuting Attorney to provide a grant to Malama O Puna to establish a neighborhood watch
group for Hawaiian Beaches.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Prosecuting Attorney and Director of Finance, and that the Director of Finance
is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
